Glock wins FBI contract

FBI-Glock

The FBI has awarded the contract to arm its agents to GLOCK, according to a notice published on Wednesday.

There is no confirmation of the exact pistols that will be supplied, but it’s expected to be the G19 and G17.

The FBI put out the request for a new firearm 2015 and it was thought that the Sig P320 was a strong candidate for the replacement. The GLOCK grips finger grooves were apparently against what the FBI had stipulated in their request, but despite this, they won the contract. It’ll be worth keeping an eye out for more details on what they actually supply and what it looks like.

The request called for a compact pistol, with a minimum magazine capacity of 14 rounds, and a full-size pistol, with a minimum magazine capacity of 16 rounds.

It also requested night sights and six magazines with each gun. The guns must be black. The FBI’s specs called for gun locks, replacement parts and operator’s manuals.

So if you’re in the market for a new pistol, a Glock 19 with night sights and 6 magazines should be high on your list.
