Farmer brutally murdered Haenertsburg

Oki (Robert) Turner (66) from Haenertsburg has died at MediClinic Tzaneen after being brutally attacked in his farmhouse between 19:00 and 21:00 last night.

Two men, who allegedly did not speak Sepedi, attacked Oki. He was shot in the upper leg and had multiple fractures on his arms and legs. Oki’s wife, Debbie, was traumatically beaten and sustained lacerations and light injuries.

She is currently being treated at Mediclinic Tzaneen.

The attackers, one of whom reportedly wore yellow tekkies, made off with seven hunting rifles and two handguns.

Letaba Alarms were on the scene with their tracker dogs and spent three hours tracking the suspects before losing the trail.

Despite an ongoing manhunt, the suspects are still at large.

Oki Turner was very well known and loved in the Haenertsburg area. His aunt started Cheerio Gardens and he and his wife owned the popular Iron Crown Pub and Restuarant during the late 1980's to 1993.

Yet another senseless murder and total silence on the part of govt. No outrage on their part, no press conferences confirming that there will be a complete investigation into this attack, no govt. pressure on the SAPS to investigate and arrest the suspects, no initiative to reduce murders of farmers and people living in rural areas... nothing... nada.

Remind me again why we pay our taxes and support such a large govt!???

I knew (Sgt.) Oki Turner. We served in the same P.T.F. unit, but in different coy's. We spent a weekend together on anti-poaching operations where he taught me a few things. He was a great guy. R.I.P.
