Re: Farm Theft, so you catch the guys, what now?
I can post a pic of something that I have made in the past that works if somebody is interested ...

You will go to jail.

Why would you go to jail?
Allot of people have set up bang alerts around their houses. And you can buy alarms that disperse pepper spray when triggered.

Because you were not in danger when your automated pepper spray dispenser blinded the poor soul as he was taking a casual stroll 2 AM.

I am thinking something like a home made tokoloshe strapped to a remote controlled car. Not illegal and might do the trick if they are still young. You can even rent it out afterwards to start your very own urban legend in the area.

Hmm. You may be right, but I have never heard of anybody being prosecuted for a thief setting off a gas trap before. I'm assuming that if they're behind a fence and up a tree they could be deemed out of the way of the general public?

Just read elsewhere that Telkom has, amongst other things, deployed pepper spray traps to protect its assets. I'd feel comfortable of my chances with the law if government agencies are using the same.

The tokoloshe got me thinking...
You could take a pair of old gumboots, attach some fishing line to the toe side and pull them across the road, just when your "customers" stroll past. (You have to pull them one by one, to simulate an invisible person walking.) This should keep them out for quite some while. You might have difficulty recruiting new employees for a while too.

Thanks, Skaaphaas. Volstruis had me worried for a second. Sometimes it seems as though our laws are on the side of the criminals ...
