MOVIE: Terminator: Dark Fate

Well I had the opportunity to see this on Imax recently. The good news is it is the best entry in the franchise since the first two movies. The bad news is that that is not saying much considering the most recent two entries in the franchise were pure shit.

The plus points are the performances of Linda Hamilton(who apparently trained hard for all the firearm scenes) Arnold Schwarzenegger (a Terminator who went native and integrated into human society) and Mackenzie Davis. Diego Luna is okay as the new evil terminator Rev-9. The action scenes are good and there is a lot of gratuitous gun porn (especially when Arnold's character introduces the main characters to his arsenal of assault rifles, grenade launchers etc, with the justification that "this is Texas").

On the downside Natalie Reyes's character (the supposed savior of humanity in the future war against the machines) comes off as a Mary Sue with little to no real flaws. The plot is a bit of a rehash. And a beloved character of the franchise (I won't say who) gets murdered ten minutes into the movie.

Yeah, saw it too. I got the idea that the writers didn't really know how to continue the original story line, so started a new one but sticking to the old one kind of.

Enjoyed the action though.

Im considering going to watch it, as long as the action is good then its a yes

I watched it maybe 2 weeks ago on Morph TV. And found it kinda boring to watch.
