Try Classic arms in Witbank, or "Gunsports" in Oudshoorn.

Thank you very much for this interesting reply..it really is good to hear stories and facts about these old rifles...I shot a .50 Pedersoli Rolling block today, a black powder shotgun that was an absolute pleasure to shoot and round the shooting off with a .72 Kodiak side by side double ...it was a great experience...we are currently preparing for a 1800 era hunt where only 1800 era rifles and living style is going to be uphold...it is going to be great....so much preparation still needs to be done...:h1::t:

I will ask Johan Greyling, I am sure we will be able to help you to get hold of a suitable piece of flint...

Re: Building a muzzle loader?
If you don't come right, send me an email: craig@gunsite.co.za
I'm sure I can help you get some, it won't be local, but I'll try sort something out.
Re: Building a muzzle loader?
The Transvaal Muzzle Loaders Club could be worth a call Flinto, one of the members shoots a flintlock. Their contact details are on their website.
Re: Building a muzzle loader?
If Classic or MSN does not have, then your best bet for flints is Track of the Wolf in the US, or Dixie Gun Works; also in the US. I barely have enough for my own guns. You need to order a few: new locks are notorious for eating flints till they are correctly set.
Re: Building a muzzle loader?
Gert,
The 1800's shoot a fantastic celebration of traditions, something special about hunting with a muzzle loader. The pics are of my Pedersoli 12ga Mortimer replica, another of my guns thats' become a safe queen. Really glad that you're pleased with the Greener.

You have beautiful Pedersoli 12ga Mortimer replica, it looks like a very accurate rifle. Yes, I am extremely pleased with my W.W.Greener Empire grade model you sold me...may I ask. if you know about farmers in a radius of fifty kilometers around Witbank who is willing to let a person do some bird shooting for some practice just to see how the Greener does , I would be glad to hear from you.
I know it is not something every one does every weekend since the farmers are hesitant to let hunters roam free on their properties...but I would feel myself extremely fortunate if I would be able to get access to such an opportunity...
Regards
Gert
