Cases Winchester

17 Grains S265,
1113

Will neen a heavier crimp on these because I had some creep on the bullets and due to the fact that they are the same length as the Rugers Cylinder the slightest bit of creep and problems.
17.5 Grains S265
1145
1163
1132
1120
1150
THese I fired individually so as to prevent the creep, there were no signs of pressure, primers nice and round , no sticky cases.
I will continue to play with this one and see where I end up, will try 18 and then 18.5 but I think that 1200fps will be my limit, as i feel that it is more than enough for a 300 grain bullet, comments here will be great.
Case capacity is not an issue as it seats to the same deapth as a 245 grain Keath bullet.
PLease note same disclaimer applies, use at you own risk,
Awesome stuff, thanks for sharing
Cant wait till you share some with me :ch:
Quick question, what do you hope to achieve at 1200 Fps that you cant at 1100 Fps?
1100 Fps should work for everything mortal man can afford to shoot
I say leave it alone
Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Gents
Manie at Somchem reverted ...... data requested for a Redhawk so user beware.
I have reloading data with the Hornady XTP
Caliber: .44Rem Magnum
Projectile: 300gr Hornady XTP
Propellant: S265
COL: 41.2mm
Start load: 14.4gr 1015fps
Maximum load: 16.0gr 1189fps
Happy hunting

Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
African, Yeti, thanks a lot for the interest shown here , I appreciate the feedback.
I will reply a bit later this evening and indicate the recipe that I used and why the possible large variances.
@ Yeti, you all worried about zombies, ........ Beware the return of the T Rex's :)
Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Ive got some 300 gr XTP's, but I dont have S265 as its become rather expensive
Will I be wasting my time with MP200?
Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Howdy Bud, you won't be getting optimum performance using MP 200 on heavy bullets , you probably find yourself down 200 to 300 fps as opposed to using S265, If however you can get some lighter bullets 200 to 250 grainers, you will get much performance, If you like i can pop over and bring you a dozen or so each of 210 and 245 grain cast bullets for you to try. What revolver are you shooting, and what type of shooting are you doing, barrel length.
Maybe the other 44 guys can add to this.
Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Hi African, Do you know what lot no the s265 is, the data is not adding up to what i have unless there is a new batch that is super hot. Quickload is giving me figure that are way low for 44 mag.The loads that Manie are giving are what I am running in my 357 mags.
Could the other quick loadguys please verify this for me, as i am maybe doing something wrong,

Much appreciated, but I do in fact have quite a nice selection of bullets at the mo.
Thanks

No lot mentioned. What does Quickload give as start and max on 300gr XTP's?
I will revert with the info to Manie.
Kind regards
African

MP200 being a faster burning propellant than S265 will guarantee you 100% powder burn percentage and thus virtually zero muzzle flash, but your charge will be considerably less. ( Pressure peaks much quicker than S265 )
If you can give me your COL, barrel length and the exact bullet length ( I have two options for 300gr XTP in Quickload - need to be sure) I can work some figures for you with MP200.
Re: .44 Mag 300 Grain cast
Dale thanks a lot, would appreciate your input, to verify mine, QL shows me reaching max pressure at just about 1000 to 1050 fps out of 7.5' barrel plus 43.5 mm of cylinder. With 300 grain XTP crimped in top grove. Mp 200 ofcourse. I am still a QL appie so would appreciate this.
