Polokwane - A Zimbabwean man wanted for various crimes in Musina was shot dead by police, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.
Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said the 37-year-old suspect allegedly hit a policeman with a rock and tried to stab him while he was being arrested on Monday night.
"The suspect was allegedly shot in the chest and he died instantly," said Ramatseba.
The man, who was wanted for crimes that included armed robbery, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and the possession of an unlicensed firearm, was found hiding in bushes next to Matombo Lodge in Extension Two, Musina.
"The independent complaints directorate was notified. A case of murder has been opened for further police investigations," said Ramatseba.
He said the suspect's name would be released as soon as his family has been notified.

I understand that they did not open the case of murder against the dead man, so it must be againts the cop? It looks similar to the way they open the case againt a private citizen for self-defence. Hmmm?
