Default What do the court cases mean to the legally armed?

    Hi Guys

Have been reading through the currently pending court cases and just wanted to know Where to from here???

What do these cases mean to the thousands of responsible gun owners and those who intend on getting legally armed? To the legal boffins, do you foresee any relief on the ridiculous time lines (or the lack thereof) that we are currently experiencing for Licensing and re licensing, that may result as a spin off from these cases?

    Any input will be appreciated

    Thanks

To which cases, specifically, do you refer?

Pending cases have no effect whatsoever on anything unless the court has made an interim order.

Sorry for the late reply....Loooong weekend

I have looked at the SA hunter case were an interim relief was sought and ALL LICENCES THAT WERE VALID ON OR BEFORE 30 JUNE 2009 REMAIN VALID UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Also the JASA case which awaits response from the minister (perhaps my info is outdated) but the court had ordered as follows:

    1. There was a failure to establish guidleines
    2. The minister is ordered to establish guidlines within 120 days
    3. Minister had to pay the applicants cost

It seems this Act has been promulgated without any back bone and these cases are just the beginning. IMHO I don’t see the state forking out millions to pay for the thousands of firearms handed in, especially after the public sector strike has brought the country to its knees and all the state could do was play broke while people died in state hospitals. Taking into consideration the trends of the past two cases, what can we expect in the future?

    Thanks

    I
