Ak UTG Side Mount - What am I doing wrong?

How well do the UTGs hold zero? I ask this, in my paintball /airsoft days we would use UTG for those purposes and can't say they were too reliable. Gold standard for AK optics has been mentioned in this thread already, RS Regulate for side mount and ultimak for gas tube rail.

Once mine was on, it was not interested in coming off. So it held zero pretty well

Russian FSB says otherwise. As does LAV, Blue Jeans Operator and a good few others including Ukrainian Spetznaz. They hold zero just fine.

What I do know is they have an opinion... with Jim Fuller he builds all types of guns with all the different mounting methods, just yesterday he was advertising a full Zenitco AK 104 with B31 Handguard, and B33 Dustcover.

Personally I went for a Midwest Industries AK Alpha Handguard and Optic Mount (over their railed dustcover)... then again I paid almost as much for a AK104 Gas Block, as I did for the Type 56 it will be going onto, so there is that.
