    Default Fishing in freshwater

I noticed this section of the forum is quite dead to put it mildly. Im sure that there are freshwater fishermen on this forum. So lets have it whats your favourite dam or river, what do you target and what bait you find works best?

My personal favourite is haartebeerspoort, catching carp or kurper ( if they're on) and sometimes by luck a barbel or 2. Bait of choice would have to be dough, dipped in either almond sureme, banjo or banana for karp. If kurper are on then worms obviosly and barbel i never target but do catch at times by luck.

Oh and whats your biggest catch and where?

My wife and I did a "Going with the flow" 3 day trip down the Breede River, camping on the shore wherever the sun went down. Never seen so many large & small mouth bass in my life!
My wife is the "papgooier" and I left my lures at home...
Surface lure on the line would have secured a nice bass for the fire. Ah well, won't make that mistake again!
    Trip was great!

Anytime - just hop on a plane and come fishing or hunting.

The fishing is nuts, The river by me (Fraser) has 100 million salmon a year swimming up it - they shagg, spawn and die. Next year the process is repeated again, and that is only one of several major rivers we have in BC.

I wont even tell you about the steel head, trout and myriad of other species swimming in the rivers lakes and dams.
