Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
Hi.
The motor on my Lyman Pro 2500 Magnum (The big tumbler) has died.
Does anyone know where in Pretoria or Centurion I might be able to source the same / a simmilar enough type of motor?
regards.

Re: Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
I found this online:

Not sure if such a motor is available locally. You may get lucky online and import one. Make sure the voltage is suitable.
If you can't find a suitable motor, you may need to adapt the mounting by means of an adaptor plate that takes a generic fan motor.
My tumbler, which is a very different setup from the Lyman, used a fan motor from new. When it expired, I obtained a 15W generic fan motor from my local refrigeration/air-con repair shop. To get the excentric weight, I just cut one of the 5 fan blades off.

Re: Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
I have seen models where they put one very short M8 bolt nut and washer through a hole in one of the fan blades, close to the edge.

Re: Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
RS Components would be a place to look but if they have a straight replacement it's unlikely to be cheap.

Re: Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
Thank you for the replies.
If I cannot get the right thing at RS I will try the fridge fan option. there are lots of places fixing fridges etc around my area.

Re: Replacement motor for Lyman tumbler.
My guess is that the critical elements for a replacement would be rpm and power followed by overall size. I made a vibrator for concrete casting once and the first two motors I tried were too slow to set up a good 'buzz'.
