One day, around 200 moons ago, a few of us took the shotguns and dogs for an outing.

The dogs had a great day pointing and retrieving with gusto and we accumulated an impressive bag including Swainsons, a few Guineas and Cresteds and if memory serves me even a Natal.

At some stage Ciska went on a point, with all four her paws planted, which indicated either four feet or no feet. Fortunately, it turned out to be a hare, which she retrieved in style.

We called it a morning and set up next to a dam in the Platrivier, while waiting for the fire to burn down, I noticed her sitting dead still watching a specific area of the water I turned my gaze over there, but could not see anything.

Twenty minutes later, she hadn't moved. I walked over there and stood behind her. She'd been pointing a tennis ball sized polystyrene about 60m out that seemed to hold in the wind. Told her to fetch it, she swam out, grabbed it and swam back, all seemed normal, until she was about 5 meters out, when she was forcefully pulled back into the dam. Not being a dog to back down, she wrestled until she got her feet into the mud. She then played tug of war and proceeded to pull a barbel out onto the bank.

Now the question, does that qualify her as completing a MacNab?

Lovely story! If I had to be the judge I would give it to her.

Yes, who would have thought a 'Dog Macnab' was even possible.

I'd have hers signed by a magistrate if necessary. What a lekker story! Apparently she may qualify to live in some states of the southern US where hillbillies catch catfish by hand in a strange cultural practice called noodling

And for a gastronomic MacNab, you can do breakfast at the Ocean Basket, lunch at Nando's, and dinner at The Butcher Shop and Grill

I shot a ostrich, then an impala and I caught some Guppies in the farm dam using a net. The farmer said he put the guppies in the farm cement dam as a child.
The farmer is 72 years old this year.
Did I have to kill the Guppies or use a rod?. Does it count.
