    I think you and I share a like for doing our own work on cars.

    The more modern ones I’ve worked on seems to be a Heath Robinson-inspired engineer’s nightmarish drawings come to life.

    There was a time when I loved working on cars.
    I still work on my own cars but honestly I can't even remember what it was like to enjoy it.
    I do still enjoy the results of a mod done right though.

    I had an uncle with a huge personal library. In it he had thousands of books and complete sets of decades worth of a wide variety of magazines. In one of the magazines, Heath Robinson 'systems' were reproduced and I remember being really disappointed at the age of 7 or 8 when he told me that they weren't illustrations of real things.
