Weird because that is exactly what you wrote.

"if that scenario is in a restaurant with a knife and gun, the attacker with the knife has to proceed to stab you in order to find it self defense"

I can't think of another reasonable interpretation of your own words.

I would also wager that 1911 Guy should perhaps familiarise himself with the "Tueler drill".
Waiting for someone to stab you is about as retarded as waiting for someone pointing a gun at you to start shooting before stopping him with a your own gun.

Used to train knife defences with kokis taped to training knives. Marks on your body were a good indicator of how fucked you would be in real life. Once knife guy was within 3-5m you were getting marked pretty much guaranted. An aggressive person with a knife should be shot generously at the maximum reasonably justifiable range until they calm down.

Is this book written in legalese or in plain understandable English?

This ^^^ SAPS are a fuckn disgrace, most cops are just there to collect a paycheck; so I've give zero credence to anything a SAPS member says. A number of them can barely spell their own names, let alone give advice.
