    Default Foreend straps

Are forend straps on a pump action shotty actually useful or is it more of a gimmick?
Is a slipping grip on a foreend a real issue? Ie, wet hands

I suppose they may have a purpose, but maybe measure that purpose by the amount of times your hand has slipped of the fore-end?
Never happened to me shooting in the rain, maybe blood is different.

I've only ever handled a Shotgun twice.
Once was a friend's ou Beretta, and the last time when I did my competency.

So I bought a used shotty yesterday and looking what's a worth while upgrade and what's not.

I am an absolute beginner with regards to shottys

I'm guessing the shape and pattern of foreend makes a difference as well.

Forget the pimping, rather buy tons of ammo, go for a sg course or 2 and then enter a Ipsc style match or more. Then you can feel/see what works and why. I enjoy my stock standard 1300 with a extended mag tube (capacity of 9 + 1). And some dried Genchem contact glue on the recoil pad because it was dried out and slipped out of my shoulder. And it works every time. The day you shoot better than your gun it might be time to upgrade, maybe.

Preach it. Every box of shells fired during training or under competition pressure is probably worth three or four times it's value in bolt on farkles and courses with competent instructors probably double that ratio.

    Thanks for the feedback gentlemen.
Very valid points, thanks for the video Branden. Our man at ASP is going through his crazy hobo beard phase I see.

What I will probably change right off the bat is to put on a bigger front sight.
Other than that, maybe a sling and a recoil pad.

I will hang back on putting on Gucci parts.

Friends of mine tricked out their pump action shoguns. Grips, fore ends, heat shields, stock and the works. They looked very nice, but shot horribly. One heat shield didn't last a box of ammo, before it came flying off. They both went back to standard.

I'd maybe do a decent recoil pad, if you need it. Decent sights and an extended mag tube, if you want to shoot competition.

Vaal gave sound advice. Shoot your gun a lot and then see what needs improving or replacing.
