223 REM brass - LC headstamp

Greetings,

Does anybody have experience with "LC" 223 Rem brass?

I'm about to buy a batch of once-fired range pick-up mixed headstamp that is apparently mostly LC and was wondering whether I should steer clear.

Fairly good.

I find that the brass with the dings on the rim have trouble when case gauging. Still need to figure out why it happens and how to fix it.

I assume it is the extractor.

Your handful don’t seem to have it on a high percentage

Lake City is a US govt ammo manufacturer, good brass but you may have to ream the primer pocket because they crimp the primers in place.

LC head stamp depending on the year (I.e. who ever has the govt contract to manufacture) is typically Federal, but can also be Winchester Brass.

Very good brass for converting to 300blk for what it's worth.

The ding on the rim is normally where the extractor hits the case on its way out.

As mentioned above, you may need to swage the primer pockets.
I converted a batch for 300BLK.

I ended up buying a Lee Ram Swage kit to sort the primer pockets out as they were well crimped and would not allow seating of primers till that was done

LC makes nothing but .mil ammo here in the US. Over the years Winchester has run the plant, then Federal. Way back Remington was running it.
I buy the 556 and 762x51 LC by the 1000's. I have used in ARs, FN and G3s forever.

The LC brass has LC on it with the 2 digit year and the circle with a X in it. Some of the newer cases have circle indentations. Not sure but I think it is so they can ID the machine that made it, kind of like a bar code.

I usually get 4 reloads before the brass gets brittle and gets splits in the neck except for the G3 that leaves dragon teeth marks on it.

What about a Dillon super swager? But I think it might be expensive.
