    Default Ludwig's Bustard.

Back in 2011 when I moved to the reserve, we rarely saw these birds, Ludwig's bustard (afr. Ludwig se pou) but their numbers have increased considerably. However, they remain camera shy and I have yet to take a really good picture of one. This is probably the best so far but the angle is wrong.

I'm really glad to hear that their numbers are increasing.

I have yet to see one.

That's a solid looking bird that. Hadn't heard of them let alone seen one before your post.

A smaller cousin of the Kori Bustard, but still a large bird.

Better known as Gompou in Afrikaans. The heaviest flying bird we have. Bird with the longest wingspan in Southern Africa is the giant albatross, even longer than an ostrich..

I remember as kids in Etosha there were Kori Bustards everywhere, we warned our father not to drive too fast… don’t turn the Kori Bustard into Kori mustard.

The Kori Bustard and European Great bustard are the heaviest flying birds, both weighing up to 18kg.
    They are solid birds.
