Handheld Spot Light
Looking for recommendations....
I'm looking for a new handheld spot light but have no idea where to start, or even brands to consider.
I have a very old, very heavy halogen one, which was phenomenal 25 years ago. Connected directly to the battery and every time you turned the light on, you could hear the vehicle strain under the voltage drain. In comparison to modern technology the light is very yellow and has dulled over time.
I would like to get a modern one, a new toy - The light is not used for hunting, shooting or culling!
I have fiddled with the entry level Gamepro, but it is no better than a modern torch.
I would like one that is SUPER bright and focused. The kind that is a nuisance to planes or your neighbor across the river, when he refuses to turn the music down at 1am.
Can be rechargeable or plug-in.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Handheld Spot Light
I got myself a Dewalt work light, because i already had tools that use the same batteries. I use this light on the small holding all the time and it is bright, but it is also pricey. I can stand on my deck and light up the other side of my property enough to see clearly and that's well over 100m.
The box says it will go to 400m and it has two brightness settings. 1500lm / 500lm. The head also swivels. I'd buy another one in a heart beat.

I think maybe Lightforce is the way to go...
The rechargeable's come at a hefty price.

You would want to go 170mm I was told.

Re: Handheld Spot Light
I bought a Nitecore P30i and a P35i
The 35 throws a nice beam out to 1000m, yes they say 1650m but I can see the light hitting at 1000m, not further. Never tried it at the receiving end at distance, but people in search parties that are at distance are very impressed.
I find it far too bright for close work, i.e. searching in the grass, in buildings or near reflective surfaces etc.
I have it set on max as default. There are presets that can be programmed.
It can be turned down to a lower more sane lumens, but when you are doing security follow-ups fiddling with buttons is not ideal.
The P30i is great for a general flood light, I find this a much better search option as the bean width really helps with peripheral vision. The throw is nowhere near the P35i though.
Both torches are really great and both have a purpose.
I bough mine from Duane at 480BC.co.za really prompt service. As always.Israeli Carry is for dead people

Re: Handheld Spot Light
If you prefer halogen (which is better for hunting/game drives etc.) go for Lightforce.
The 170mm and 240mm versions are best. 170mm if you are working out to about 250m, and the 240mm version if you want to go further.
They are still corded though. You are welcome to chat with me on Whatsapp at 0825354100 for advice as I rely on lights to do my work at night.
For LED, the cheap Magneto Extreme spotlights at Game, Makro and the Tevo shops are hard to beat.

You can also have a look at the torch guy. I have bought from him in the past. Super helpful and friendly.

I'm also a torchguy supporter.
Have you looked at handheld flashlight? You can carry it in your pocket (model depending) when you don't need it which you cannot do it with standard spotlight.
Do you have a decent handheld flashlight? Try to keep to the same size batteries so you can interchange if needed.

Re: Handheld Spot Light
Thanks all!
I bought the Lightforce 170mm. May not tick all my boxes but I'm sure it will be good enough.
