    Default ASTRA STG4

See in the latest Dave Sheer ad that they are selling the ASTRA STG4 (AR15 Clone) rifles.

Ooooh. Astra was purchased by a Swiss co. IIRC so they are no longer the Spanish concern we are used to. Any idea how much they retail for TH?

Nope not yet, I'll post a price the moment I get one from them.

Had anyone thought to find out if these are any good? They may be the best thing since sliced bread or the worst gun in the world or somewhere in the middle. I haven't heard much about them. But I'm not viewing this as the best news in the world until I know they're actually worth buying.

I did find these comments on a firearm blog.

Swiss Made on Astra Arms M4 is fucking bullshit. These gun are made in vietnam and “fitted” in switzerland. Don’t be a fool thinking it’s real swiss quality.
    * Astra (Spanish name, Italian shareholder and Swiss location of the legal HQ) with nobody found vaild indication of the factory location in Switzerland
And they weren't too complimentary on this forum either.

But, thanks to our legislation, beggars can't be choosers. Which means that the shooting fraternity in South Africa has to make do with whatever they can get their hands on, unfortunately.

PS: Aren't Dave Sheer HK agents? Why not bring in some HK416's?

You might get a chance to buy one AR/LM in a lifetime with the current climate, rather spend the money to get the best you can, though those pics were done in 2008 they might have improved, I would look to elsewhere if that's what they look like now!!

I would rather have a reliable bolt gun than a shitty semi.

The Weapons magazine Visier and SWM state that it is a good quality Mil-Spec platform. Haven't had one in my hands...
