Re: ASTRA STG4
I know that there is someone on this forum who has contacts at Dave Sheer.
So who ever you are go down to Dave Sheer , go check the rifles out, shoot the thing and give us a report. End of story.

Re: ASTRA STG4
I went past Dave Sheer and actually tested the rifle, I shot the commando 11.5 inch barrel and have to say its not bad at all, group well out of the box at 25 meters, trigger is a bit stiff but then again its new, has a nice weight to it as well, I def think its not a bad buy at all. I have been trained on the ar platform so will take the gun over any lm or mini 14 but then again its opinion. They do have both 11.5 and 14.5 inch in stock going for 17999.
The rifle isnt as nice as the YHM but its definetly not crap, I have 4 .223 on my name otherwise I would def buy one, as for quality u I would say good, solid. A guy I know in canada has a bushmaster .223 ar and a norinco ar15 and his bushmaster has broken 4 times that now he only uses the norinco and says he has had no problems, not that I am a norinco fan its I dont think they can be that bad.

Re: ASTRA STG4
DSSP , Thanks
I suggetsed that someone go do down to Dave Sheer and give us a report. But instead I got shot down before anyone even saw the rifles.
Although DSSP report back was not a technical one , all we the average shooter want to know is Good Rifle , Bad Rifle - Worth The Money , Not Worth the money- Great or Junk. Yes, No.......

Re: ASTRA STG4
DSPP it is well known that shrubmasters are crap.
416 why do you have an issue with people wanting proof that a totally unproven product with a crap reputation is any good. Going to to shop to look at one or shoot 50 rounds doesn't prove much does it?
BTW neither of you are affiliated to Dave Sheer Guns in anyway are you?

Re: ASTRA STG4
I am not affiliated to Dave Sheer, never been to the shop and don't even know where it is situated.
I am aware that the ASTRA STG 4 is not a top tier AR and that ASTRA is not a top tier brand.
I am no authority on the AR platform , I am no AR fundi , I am not a AR specialist.
The point I was trying to make is, lets not call it a piece of SHYTE until someone local does a review on it or checks it out. If I lived in the the U.S I would call it a piece of SHYTE considering all the options there are. People living in Manaco call a Toyota a piece of SHYTE but we in S.A claim it's a good car. DO YOU GET MY POINT.
The more AR platforms that are available to us in S.A the better for us , spares , price , support. Not everyone can afford a top tier AR. I would like a HK 416 but it would cost close to R40K. Top tier AR's are not available in S.A
These STG's will give a local shooter lots of years of shooting fun. It will have to be maintained like every other AR. Besides what are our other AR options in S.A right now.

Re: ASTRA STG4
I don't know anyone from Monaco so I don't know how they feel about Toyota. I do know that they are unlikely to claim that it is an unreliable or unsafe car. The rich ones probably wouldn't trade in their Phantoms though.
A first tier gun is a first tier gun no matter where on the world it is.Why get all excited and defensive ? Why buy something that isn't any good just because it's available? I haven't called it a piece of shit I've said until we know better I wouldn't get too excited. So far all the reviews have been terrible. Something would actually have to show me that this thing is good. I want a NightHawk 10-8 I'm not going to buy a Star BM because that's available and has a similar design.

Re: ASTRA STG4
I know of one that has been stored at a local gunshop and has started rusting since being taken into storage...
IMHO leave it alone, as I said, there will be better options arriving this year.

Re: ASTRA STG4
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I suggest you shoot it and decide for yourself, I dont think its a bad rifle at all. Go to southern arms there is a guy there Daryl, he lets anyone shoot it he bought the commando from Dave Sheer, go try it out, msg me in private for his details
