Re: recommendations on 9mm for I.D.P.A( SSP and ESP)
Dude, there are alot of good pistols out there. I am biased towards the M&P9, because thats the gun I shoot the best - but many if not most of the SADPA SSP Masters all shoot Glocks. MAG does quite well with his CZ75 (slide stops permiting ;-)
Get the firearm you like. The diffrence between SSP Novice and SSP master is practice.

Re: recommendations on 9mm for I.D.P.A( SSP and ESP)
I have recently been on the very excellent "accuracy and Markmanship" course as presented by Big T. I also attended the Gunfighting dundementals as presented by SwatG.
The one lesson i left with is that IDPA is the place to learn how to correctly apply your current equipment providing it is reliable at times.
I am also starting IDPA next year and will be trying to draw my extra mags from my pocket because that is where i carry them during my workday.I use this as an example of what you should try to get from IDPA, rather than trying to put something INTO IDPA. ( i hope that makes sense).
Anyway, if you are buying new, you cannot go wrong with a GLock or a Smith and Wesson M & P.
Could you tell us what you currently own?

Re: recommendations on 9mm for I.D.P.A( SSP and ESP)
Why do you want to be able to compete with only one firearm in both divisions?
If this is really the case the you must go for something that can be used double action, or single action such as a HK USP, CZ 75 or Vector SP1. Is this a sport gun only - not going to be used for self defense EVER?
