Default Converting 7x57 to 8x57 or even 9,3x57

Does anybody have any comments on converting a 7x57 to 8x57 or even 9,3x57?

The thinking behind this is to have 1 bushveld rifle that covers a wider range of game species.

It would prbably be better to consult a reputable gunsmith recarding this.
You will most prabably have to rebarrel the rifle.
Generally convertions are done where the calibre remains the same, in this case 7mm and the chamber is reamed to take a bigger / longer case, like a 7x64.
There is cost involved and relicencing of the new calibre.
If the 7x57 is loaded with premuim grade bullets and with proper shot placement you should be able to take any of the non dangerous bushveld animals.
Karamojo Bell shot well over 1000 elephant with a 7x57, crazy I know or maybe he had balls of titanium.

I you insist on something bigger, why not add a 9,3x62 or even better a 375H&H to your collection.

    Or a 375H&H or even better a 9,3x62 grn1 ;D

Lots of discourse on that subject.

The 375 and 9,3 are most probably 2 of the very best bushveld calibres available. The 375 imo only outshines the 9,3 at longer distances and the 9,3 outshines the 375 in being available in a lighter rifle to carry and less recoil for those to whom it matter and of course cheaper ammo.

You can only convert a 7mm to an 8mm or 9,3 mm by replacing the barrel.

not worth the money,if you want a 8x57 it would be cheaper to buy a second hand .303 they have similar trajectories,it all depends on what type of hunting you will be doing.
