Re: New Pup-Vizsla
Right here goes.
The Father is more than likely a young dog called Gimly ( from the Cape), his Father comes from fine stock, I've seen the dog's forefather work, It's one of Spikes Dog's. The Mother, Ayla is aggressive, you may just want to watch for that trait and nip it in the bud.
Ayla is from Romania and can "work". Her claim to fame is a Natural Ability test ( the dog must , sit, stay, point a bird in a trap and do two retrieves on dummies, one land, one water). It's a no brainier, most dogs will do it, further she is advertised as having partaken in Field Trial's, what the owner doesn't mention is that she got chucked out after the first round for not finding birds, together with my Vizsla and Elmi's Vizsla. That was the last we saw of them, Ayla may have potential, we will never no.
That's on the father side.
The Mother, if it's Lara well then you are doing OK.
As for the Breeder, well his Just a Redneck in a Colt Bakkie, I love him to pieces , OH I have one of his first Dogs.
Anything else ??????????

You should be OK, just don't compare her with your GSP, Your Pup shouldl be a good tracker, just not sure on her range. I think you have a close working dog. Her nose shouldn't be to bad either. as for drive you'll have to see.

Re: New Pup-Vizsla
I also have a Vizsla and a GSP.. And they are worlds apart..
I think the advantage you have is that your pup can learn from your GSP.. I dont know if you have experience with Vizlsa's but they tend to be softer than the germans when it comes to training (in my experience). So just keep that in mind..
Enjoy your pup and happy hunting!

Hahaha, I think we all think our germans are the only ones that are hard hearing and stubborn. So fear not - you are not alone :)
They are humbling creatures I can promise you that! ;)

Well well, JPP, be that as it may, I was still mightily impressed with all your dogs; they had lovely temperaments, the lot of them!
Thanks for the feedback; it's good to learn more.
Cheers!Prone to random kindness, lecherous behaviour, imitating D-cups at speed and an outstanding sense of humour. If you don't agree, well fuck you.

Re: New Pup-Vizsla
Phil - is that you, Phil - thought that you had dropped off the face of the planet!
Now why did you have to go and write poo this this stuff, below here, hey?
And what is this calling Luger an average GSP - I love that dog!
I hope to see you at some of the surveys if I can get my act together.
Cheers
Sweet
P.S. Sorry for hijacking the thread a bit!

Congrats, that be a cute puppy. I would believe JPPhil's advice - he clearly knows his oats around the breed. I have seen a couple of Vizsla's working and love the dogs, they are clean and very gentle, if one were to want to make a generalisation about the breed.
Most importantly, have fun with her!
