NIGHTSHOOT – SAPS DERDEPOORT SHOOTING RANGE, PRETORIA 16 APRIL 2011.

Hello all,

The Pretoria Police Practical Shooting Club will be hosting a NIGHTSHOOT on 16 April 2011.

The event will be open to all registered shooters from all shooting disciplines (IPSC, IDPA, NPA, etc.)

The idea behind the shoot is to provide a safe and fun event to practise your night time shooting skills. As such the event will be run according to IPSC rules and safety procedures, but will not be scored as a regular match and no prizes will be awarded. A spread sheet of all shooters times and points will be published for your own information and perusal.

In the spirit of this event certain allowances will be made with regards to the firearms used and as such there will be no class or division differences. Play with what you bring, however only pistols and revolvers will be allowed.

The shoot will consist of 4 x stages:

1. A standards exercise shot with the illumination provided by the hosts.
2. A medium length course shot with the targets illuminated by the hosts (no torches will be allowed).

3+4. Basic assault courses which may be shot using any source of illumination provided by the competitor. (This is where you can try out all your Tactical Toys)


Entry fee: R50.
Sign-in will start at 17:00 and shooting will start around 18:30.
Competitors will require 100 rounds.
Normal holster, mag pouch, belt and ear & eye protection rules apply.
Please bring your own refreshments as none will be available at the range.
Braai fires will be available after the shoot.

REMEMBER TO BRING A TORCH ( OR SEVERAL) & SPARE BATTERIES!!!!!

Directions: Travel on the N1 North. Take Zambezi off ramp. Turn right in Zambezi road - direction Cullinan. Turn right at the traffic lights at the Zambezi/Moloto intersection. After approximately 350m turn left into access road between smallholdings. Turn right at T-junction and follow road into range. Sign boards (IPSC targets) will be posted.

Hi guys,

It seems the Huntex show and the SAPSA shotgun Nationals will prevent many people from attending the Nightshoot on 16 April.

Due to this we have decided to move the event to a later, as yet undecided, time.

This will allow more people to attend the event and provide us with a bit more time to prepare for the shoot as well. It will also allow all the shooters to go out and buy that tactical torch you have always wanted :)

I am sorry to disappoint those who were been keen to attend, but will keep everybody informed about the new date for the event.

Hi guys,

We are looking at an alternative date for the postponed Nightshoot.

At this stage it seems like the next possible date will be on 07 May or somewhere in September.

I know that many clubs have their club shoots on the 1st weekend of the month ( 07 May) and that this may affect the attendance of the Nightshoot again.

I am looking for feedback from you guys about whether you think the date (07 May) will be viable or if the clubshoots will interfere with attendance?

Clubshoot planned at Roodepoort for JDPC on 7 May. That's a long drive even if the timing allows.
