The "marketing" ploy that was used in this regard is bad enough, but even worse; when the SAPS CFR were asked (confronted) about it by some of the public yesterday they blamed SAGA for spreading the incorrect info!

Luckily this got back to the folks at the SAGA stand who were then able to go set the record straight at the CFR stand.......

there are no temps being issued at huntex
If you want a license or temp you must go do it in the normal procedure

2012: New Mail from Adriaan today, Similar Story... CAN WE BELIEVE THIS ?

The Head of the SAPS Central Firearms Registry (CFR) has decided that a special dispensation will be put in place within the CFR to ensure that every person who qualifies and purchases a weapon(s) from you at HuntEx 2012, will receive his/her licence to possess that weapon(s) within a very short period after 22 April 2012.

For this to happen I must provide Brigadier Mangwani with a list of buyers and their details on Sunday 22 April 2012.

To assist with this arrangement you will have to provide buyers with the SAPS license application forms. Photocopy facilities will be available at the Information Centre in The Link. The completed forms must then be taken to the stand of the SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association (SAHGCA at stand # 122) in Hall 2 where the application will be stamped by Hennie de Jager and the required information captured. This is merely a practical arrangement to ensure that the CFR receives all the information they need to give special attention to these applications. It does not imply that a buyer has to be a member of SAHGCA or become one first before the application is stamped. SAHGCA asked that you kindly handle their role in this circumspectly.

The buyer must then submit his/her stamped application to the DFO where he/she lives.

The CFR has stands in Hall 2 (#123) and Hall 3 (#249) and applicants can seek advice there to ensure that their applications are filled in correctly.

During discussions with the CFR inspectors they have requested that you comply with the following:

    1. Handguns must be tied with cables to the furniture and be shown in glass topped counters or kept and locked in glass cabinets. You may then take the handgun out to show to a visitor and allow him/her to handle it but it has to remain tied to the cable. This is only to prevent theft which then becomes a police problem.

    2. Rifles behind counters to which the public/visitors have no direct access need not be tied with cables

    3. Rifles in open stands where the public have access to the weapons should preferably be tied with a cable

    4. Ammunition should preferably not be exhibited directly next to or close to a weapon

Your SAPS 518(b) applications are with the SAPS inspectors Capt Nortier and Warrant Officer Croukamp. They have inspected and approved the gun storage container at Magnum Safes on Tuesday and have issued your permits to trade and exhibit at HuntEx2012. The papers are just awaiting signature and will be handed to you next week. The inspectors report to Colonel Morkel who is responsible to coordinate the participation of the CFR with HuntEx2012.

Please also inform me finally of the number of weapons you intend to bring to HuntEx2012 so that I can ensure enough room in the container for you. The weapon storage container will be delivered to the loading bay on Monday 16 April and our protection/security service kicks in at 06h00 on 17 April.

Special trolleys to transport rifles from your vehicle to the container and to your stands have been made. Please ask the security and drayage staff in the loading bay for these trolleys when you need to move rifles. A picture of the trolley is attached. It can move 27 rifles at a time and 10 of these are available.

    Kind regards
