Martini Henry
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for 10 or so Martini Henry rounds. My dad has one of these rifles and would like to have a few rounds for it to take to the range just for one or two shots.
Can anyone help with this?
Thx

Re: Martini Henry
Ammo for this rifle is no longer commercially available. The only option is to load your own. Remember, in terms of the law, nobody alse who loads their own is allowed to supply them to you. Blundebuss Gun and Sport has turned brass cases in stock and will be able to supply bullets as well. Give them a call on 011-867-0370.

Also have a search at www.whitesmoke.co.za.
Bertram Brass in Aus were making cases for the 577/450 but am unsure if they still are.

Re: Martini Henry
Ken Stewart also makes cases, but they are drawn brass. IMHO much better than the turned cases. He also sells swaged lead bullets for the old war horse. Remember that the MH was designed as a black powder rifle and should be loaded with BP.
That means you should also apply for a black powder permit. That is a piece of cake though, compared to all the other hoops you must have jumped through if you are a firearm owner.

The only problem with the reloading is that the dies are rather expensive, and if you are not already a reloader, to buy a press, scale etc. for only ten rounds, could bring your ammo costs to average about R600 a round!
The law do not prohibit using somebody else's press, scale and dies though.
Force 9, Rustenburg is not too far from Ellisras, you are wellcome to come load on my press and dies.
Bring your own cases, primers, bullets, black powder, and you can even shoot the rifle on my range.

Re: Martini Henry
Sorry for Hi-Jacking this thread. My uncle has a Martini Henry and I am thinking of convincing him to sell it to me (if he still has it). How would one motivate it? I am no collector but I will be getting my DSS soon.
