So I finally received some news regarding my competency application.
I submitted on 17 May at DFO office and received an sms that same day.

Two weeks later my references were called and I expected it to be sent to Provincial soon thereafter.

Well, after calling the DFO office at least once a week I finally got through to the captain last Tuesday and he told me he'd include it in his batch for the next day.

Called today and was told that it was sent to Provincial.
I called Provincial immediately and was told it has been sent to CFR.
The only sms I received was on the day I handed in my app.

I'm hoping the momentum continues!!! ��

I for the life of me can't understand how some of you guys handle the waiting.

My app was captured at CFR on 14 July and was only sent to Criminal Records Centre (CRC) this past Friday 5 August.

The waiting is unbearable!!

Three and a half months now just for the Competency from SAPS and still waiting. They told me between 2 to 3 months, I called them and they said it's still in the process.

I submitted my competancy app end February 2016. Got it only end July. Immediately submitted my license app, hope it goes faster.

What I cant understand, is this application process is like this for so many years. If gun shop owners, lawayers, and role players in this industry team up, cant this system be challenged? I mean everyone just accept this incompetence. But cant people with the knowledge and power do something, just maybe they can change this?

Just a newbie thought.....

Phone local DFO today at status is in consideration. He recons by end next week it should be approved.
