Get your proficiency training done and apply for your competency and then license. You won't regret it. Initially I only did the FCA and pistol proficiency and late last year I did self loading carbine and shotgun. In March I applied for further competency. If at all possible do as many modules as possible, then you apply for competency once.
Handed in my application for further competency 6 March and my application is now at the competency section.
My advice is don't delay, get it done. You'd rather have the firearm and not need it, than not have it and need it.
