    Cool 1st forging attempt

I needed a large knife for a counter poaching course I'm going on, so instead of spending R2000, which I don't have anyway, I decided to make one. I used a large file I bought for R10 from a pawn shop, borrowed a anvil from a friend and some creativity to build a temporary forge. Used a vucuum cleaner to supply air to the forge. Its won't be pretty and will prbably break easily, but it was sattisfying. The most expensive part was the two bags of charcoal. Next time I'm going to use coal.

I think you watched Rambo 4 a little bit to much! Very creative!

I just hope it works for you! If you have to drink some penswater, I hope the knife is strong and sharpe enough!

For how long were you able to get usable heat from the forge?

Looks good. If you need any tips on hardening send me a PM. I can help you get it tough enough that it won't break.
