Re: Reloading data - 357 SIG - help needed
Has been posted before, last week in fact. But I will repost:
Caliber: .357Sig
Powder: S221 (ideal powder)
Bullet weight: 125grain
Start load: 7.0grains (estimated 1150 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 8.5 grains (estimated 1300 Ft/p/sec)
Bullet weight: 145-147grain
Start load: 6.0grains (estimated 1050 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 7.5 grains (estimated 1200 Ft/p/sec)
Powder: MP200 (second choice)
Bullet weight: 125grain
Start load: 6.0grains (estimated 1150 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 7.5 grains (estimated 1300 Ft/p/sec)
Bullet weight: 145-147grain
Start load: 5.0grains (estimated 1050 Ft/p/sec)
Maximum load: 6.5 grains (estimated 1200 Ft/p/sec)
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
1. NB!! Always start loading at the recommended minimum (start) charge/load, work up gradually in increments of 1.5 to 2% of the nominal charge, closely observing for pressure signs.
2. No liability is accepted, either expressed or implied, for damage or injury, arising from, or alleged to have risen from the use of the above information.
3. When a particular caliber is not tested by Somchem, it will be indicated as such. If and when information is provided, it will be based on overseas data with propellants which is similar (never equivalent!) to the Somchem products. This information must serve as a guideline only, and must be treated as such. NB! It is very important that velocity is measured with the suggested start load, and compared with the estimated velocity.
4. Maximum limits:
4.1. If velocity can be measured, do not exceed the maximum published velocity value
4.2. If velocity cannot be measured, do not exceed the maximum charge.

Re: Reloading data - 357 SIG - help needed
Thanx ...question .....
Quickshot gives MS200 as the best option in 357 SIG
-147gr FPMJ on top of 5.0gr MS200 for 1300 fps.
-147gr FPMJ Max is 5.5 gr MS200 for 1375 fps.
Any experience or comments?
Anybody using MS200 for the 124gr FMJ?
Kind regards

Re: Reloading data - 357 SIG - help needed
Thanks for the info Brendank. I will check against my data, as i started reloading for 357sig in its infancy, before somchem & co had any data published.
What i am struggling to find is a taper crimp a chamber gauge for it. Any ideas as to where i could find these? Really having a tough time getting that neck to seat the last mm, to get my reloads 100% reliable. At the moment 2 - 3 per 100 let me down, and that is really soul destroying...
Thanks

Re: Reloading data - 357 SIG - help needed
Thanks. Shooting Stuff has the LEE chamber gauge, but that will only confirm that I am messing up...
I am definitely shooting S221, 125gr FPJ, just not sure of the load. Brendank's data sounds similar (think my range rounds are 7.2Gr , but will check tonight.)
Clean burning powder, and the primers and cases appear normal.
I just dont shoot it too often due to the occasional ammo malfunction.
Other than that, reckon its really a great caliber. My EDC of choice.
