    Default Bowie Knives WIP

Here are the rough forged blades after the normalising process

Now ground and ready for hardening.

    Polished and etched/blacked.

With their respective handle materials. The two etched blades will have hippo and nickel silver handles. The black bowie will have a blackwood handle with stst fittings

Each of these bowies has a blade of 330mm plus another 130mm for handles. They are quite large.

    Sizing up the teeth.

After some stressful drilling I managed to get neat holes that fit the tangs well.

Guard filed and fitted. Also some pre shaping done. The guard will get hot and the tooth could crack if shaped when its all glued together first.

Back of the guard. Tapering of the quillions also done.

    Final fit of guard

Checking surfaces are flat on handle

    Dry Fit

Pre shaping the handle. Comparison with other piece.
