my comp was approved on 6 may. They no longer receiving plastic comps, only paper comps. The paper comps they have are all June's approvals.
There is no plastic comp nor paper comp for me and I keep getting turned away by cops. I am just a number that fell through the cracks in this system.

Strange, I received my renewal Jul 4th and it was plastic. Should they not publisise if they change? What happens when you get stopped and produce paper thing, will the cops or Parksboard even exept and how easy is that to forge? Would be utterly stupid if you ask me.

maybe they issue paper certificate first, while the plastic card is in the works...

I was told that they wont be issuing plastic comps because of the big backlog of printing license cards.

What is the reason for a comp card in the first place? You don't need it when applying for a licence, you simply need the number. You don't need it in a roadblock, as the licence will not have been issued if you didn't have competency.

So keep the paper in the safe, where it is, uhm, safe.

my DFO insists that I must submit a photo copy of my comp when applying for a licence. If PTA accepts only the card number then I wont care. I just want to be able to get the guns at the end of the day.

This issue is very confusing!! I have received my new licence but no competency card/certificate/paper. As I read the act , I only have to produce the licence if asked to do so. legal eagles is this correct?

Yes. Strictly you cannot have the licence without the competency, so making you produce both is redundant.
