That and terminal ballistics will deteriorate a lot with 55gr FMJ after 100m from a barrel that short imo.

Dunno, but i score OK on the 3 Gun,

ANd when I am under no pressure the groupings in the "staan Houding" are pretty good. Most the shots in the A zone. But shooter error is always bigger than rifle error

But ill let you all know one day.

All things are compromises in the end. You can, in fact, get what you asked for within reasonable limits (a 1/2MOA rifle will necessarily be heavy, very tight and have a match trigger that might not be as suitable for close, fast CQB, not to mention any optics you want to use, etc.) but it's gonna cost you a LOT of money, and you may, or may not, be able to import it.

Ammo plays a huge part in accuracy and no mil-spec ammo will do much better than 2-3MOA even in a match gun if you actually fire 10 shot groups instead of those 3 shot, cherry picked wonders gun writers love to show. Match ammo costs to buy or load yourself...are you set up for that?

Caliber is a choice, but .223 / 5.56 is seemingly more readily available in SA than .308 / 7.62x51. The bigger .308 cartridge also weighs about twice what a .223 does, impacting ammo loadout if you have to hump it all. Have you thought about that? How about magazine avaibility? Mounts for optics and / or lights, etc? What is your budget? What is your projected use for the rifle?

In short, your specs do not seem to have been worked out well or you need to provide more detail for us to give you a more definite answer.

And, Emillio, not all Americans define 'assault rifle' the same way. In California your coment would be correct but not so in Texas or Florida, etc. I also doubt the Dashprod could do much better than 4-6MOA with standard mil-spec ball at 100M but it might...barrel length is no indicator of accuracy.

More likely counter-poaching ops imo. If that is the case, 7.62x51 is probably best, the likes of a FAL.

If there is dangerous game about..then 7,62.

But for duties where there are none ( dangerous game) then 5.56 or 5.45.

    My 2c.

The extras are very important. Getting a nice well priced Mini 14 is all good and well, but have you seen what magazines cost for them?

And shooting 7,62 over 223 is much more expensive.

But then again, your spec said 1/2 MOA. I think therein lies the problem. There is no good value to achieve that. Just more cost.

What you planning on using it for?

S'pose it would be helpful if snipersteve gave some input...

Based on the OP & snipersteves intro I am not so sure why one would want semi that can group 38mm @ 100 simply for anti-poaching.

He needs to clarify the intended purpose, budget avaliable for training & ammo, end users skills etc.
Recent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2

    Hi guys

It will be used mainly for anti poaching ops, never the less as I am also involved in game farm management. If I am in the bush on management duties the will always be with meanyway so it may be used for management purposes (for the sick, laim and lazy animals). Don't worry about danagerous game, as a rilfe is a false security in those terms as you should never get yourself in to that situation. The cost in replacement of dangerous game is to high. I would perfer .223 cal. as i have larger calibre rifles and the price on ammo is less that .30 cal. (can play more then)

The reason for the 1.5 inch grouping is
    1. Where I shoot is where i must hit (removing of sick or injured game).
    2. generally in anti poaching the range is not great but if there was a situation that I need to be more accurate, i want to be able to be.
3.what is the point in having a rifle if you cant have fun with it, I like a challange and a rifle that is not accurate is not a challenge and no fun to play with(for me anyway).

thanks for the feed back so far guys really enjoying it.
