Great rifles! The L1A1 is arguably the best iteration of the FAL ever built.

For those unaware of it, however, they are set up to work properly with 'inch' pattern magazines. They will accept the more common 'metric' pattern mags but not always feed well with them. I have no idea how common inch pattern magazines are in SA, but it is something to consider...

I see Craig Monk at Blunderbuss in Alberton has some magazines marked as SLR mags. Would these be correct?

I knew you would say that.

Well, they are all damned fine rifles, although the Ishapores are not IMO up to the others, even the Imbels.

The ishapores are not clones but based on the design with some other engineering mods to prevent compatibility with the enemy or something.

Because of the keen interest and my inbox being flooded, price is 14500, we have mags that work with them

Among FAL guys, the term 'SLR' is generally taken to mean those rifles produced in Australia, which were also inch pattern rifles. So technically SLR mags should be correct but in SA I'd check first to be sure.

Heck I would buy one of these if I could get it into the US!

I love everything about the L1A1 better than the FAL except the most important thing, the trigger. I have yet to find either an original or US made L1A1 trigger that can compare to a good Fal trigger.
