My First hunting trip with my new gun
Hello
I thought I might share this experience with everyone. I purchased my first gun, a 30-06 in May, but I am still waiting for my license to be approved. So what I did is I bought myself a CVA Electra .50 cal muzzleloader to use while I wait for my 30-06.
I got the the gun 2 days before we left for Alldays. I had a friend help me sight in the scope when we got there. I use 348gr Powerbelt bullets with 120gr Sannadex powder.
So the really cool thing is that I squeezed off 2 shots over the weekend, with 2 kills. I managed to get 1 x Kudu Cow, and 1 Ampala Ram.
So my first hunting trip was a great success for a first time hunter.
The muzzleloader is really accurate, as both were taken at about 120 meters. I tried to find the bullets to check the weight retention but we could not find anything as it went straight through.

Wow! Congratulations on a very successful first hunt!
Just don't expect every hunt to be that successful...Be ready for anything, and if his head is not at least two meters away from the body, do not 'assume' he is dead and out of the fight. - Ikor

Well done. With a muzzleloader! I'm impressed.
Obviously you don't need the 30-06 anymore. Seeing that it is now second-hand, I'll give you a fair price for it.

Re: My First hunting trip with my new gun
Well done!!
It is always great to bag that first animal with a new gun!
I also initiated my 30-06 (Sako Mod 80) this year (the licence only took 2 and a half years, thank you politicians)!

Re: My First hunting trip with my new gun
I think my 30-06 is now redundant before I even have it!!! I love the muzzleloader so much. A great gun to hunt with.

It is ridiculous that we have to wait that long. I wonder how long I will have to wait.
