Cool, the RO's on my range are always on about eyes and ears, just surprised you can shoot with ear plugs. Made for shooting or you taking chances?

Re: Secunda Club Shoot Man vs. Man Challenge
I just saw these comments about the hearing protection when I tried to post a video about the MPSA Closed Champs.
It would be interesting to get the official input from a specialist on hearing, but I have been told that sharp loud sounds (like gunshots) does significant damage by sound waves entering through the cochleal bone behind the ear. It is therefor important to wear hearing protection that also shields that part of the ear and therefore wearing ear plugs is not sufficient.
Does anybody on hear have any proper medical input to give regarding this matter?

Re: Secunda Club Shoot Man vs. Man Challenge
For handguns plugs are OK for rifles muffs are recommended to protect the bone behind the ear, as stated above has to do with the higher DB levels produced by rifles.
These guys do both moulded plugs and muffs and know what they are talking about, based in Pretoria.

More and more guys are running their plugs, if you shoot rifle both are best - to plug and wear muffs.
Gunshots cause permanent hearing damage.
Please insist that all children on your range have both eye and ear protection, see too often that dad pitches kitted, but the kids are left to fend for themselves!!
