Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
Was visiting one of the branches when the first plane went in. Asked the branch manager for the nearest pub with a TV. So off we trundled to Guzzlers, Milnerton, Cape Town and watched the second plane fly into the building. Sat there all afternoon drinking beer and philosphising Armageddon.

Lawdog makes some points, but cannot even spell the terrorist's name.
Me, I was buying milk from the farm next to ours, when we heard it on the radio. I didn't see the videos of the planes crashing until 2007. We didn't have TV, and whenever I got to one it wasn't showing!

Watching it all live on the television in our offices – with considerable disbelief! I did not understand then just how much it would change the world we live in.

"Studying" for a maths exam. Saw the second plane hit. Thought it was a replay.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
My boss at that time was in the NY Trade Center Marriot hotel, I think it was called building 6. He called my cell phone to ask what was going on. He had heard the 1st explosion but no one would tell them what was going on.
I told him "Get out, Now!". Somehow I knew it was an attack, they all have that same feel to it. He ran to the parking garage, got his rental car and drove out of NY. He left everything behind.
When he got back, he shook my hand and said Thanks, I said Your Welcome.
We have never talked about it since.
Several years later, he must have told his wife about what happened. I received a Thank You card from his wife and 2 daughters.

I was at a church band meeting, 16yo, and we watched news and prayed thereafter..... before that day 10 years ago I was never aware/introduced to "the war against terror" before.

Re: Where were you 10 years ago?
I was in the hostel at my school, went into the dining hall and remember thinking what movie is on the TV this time of day. I walked in just before the second plane hit and saw it happen. It took me a while to realize what was happening. That attack changed everyone lives in some way or another.
