300 AAC BLACKOUT (7,62X35)
Advanced Armament Corp. 300 AAC BLACKOUT (300BLK).
This system was developed to launch 30 caliber projectiles from the AR platform without a reduction in magazine capacity and compatible with the standard bolt.
Full power 123 grain ammunition matches the ballistics of the 7.62x39mm AK, has 37% more energy than 5.56mm M855, and 9% more than 6.8 SPC TAP 110. In fact, from a 9 inch barrel, the 300BLK has more muzzle energy than 5.56mm M855 from a 16 inch barrel. When 300 BLK is used in a 16 inch barrel, it has 23% more energy than 5.56mm M855 from a 16 inch barrel - with much higher-mass projectiles for a more dramatic effect on the target. Or choose subsonic cartridges for optimal use with a sound suppressor - 220 grain Sierra OTM (open-tip match) bullets vastly outperforms a 9mm MP5-SD in penetration and long range accuracy.

Re: 300 AAC BLACKOUT (7,62X35)
The 300BLK is an extremly versatile cartridge especially when used in the AR platform (using the same exact mags one would for 5,56/223).
An AR in 300BLK is my next grail....

Re: 300 AAC BLACKOUT (7,62X35)
excuse my ignorance but I dont know much more about this cartridge than what is expressed here.
Is the next platform for military weapons or has this been created as a "wildcat" cartridge just to get a heavier bullet into the AR platform on a small/private scale?

Re: 300 AAC BLACKOUT (7,62X35)
There is a lot of information on the 300BLK. It is not a Wildcat but SAAMI spec. Commercial ammo manufacturing companies do not produce Wildcat ammo.
I would not catagorize 300BLK as a cartridge available on small/private scale when there are 50 plus companies making products to use the 300BLK and companies like Remington and Ruag manufacturing ammo commercially.
The 300BLK is just a fairly new in "cartridge world". The future applications of the 300BLK will still become evident in the months and years to come.Last edited by DS; 27-10-2011 at 18:22.

Re: 300 AAC BLACKOUT (7,62X35)
Its new?
All they did was duplicate the old German 7,92x33 ballistics for the STG44 in a 7,62x35 cartridge.
They both fire a 125g bullet at 2250fps. I ran it through me Norma ballistics program, they are 99.8% the same.
