Advice needed for a fussy customer
Hi guys,
I have been tasked by a family member to source him a handgun for use in Production in IPSC.he has a very stringent set of requirements:
Must be a 9mm
Must have an external safety
Must have a 15 rd std capacity
Must have an accessory rail-for his already purchased wml that won't fit his edc Steyr M9!
Abundance and availability of spares and accessories
Budget is R7k
I immediately suggested a 2nd hand CZ 75 as it meets his reqs but he then said he doesn't like them or any cz,so there goes the idea of the duty!
What would you suggest-i also suggested the vektor sp1 and z88 but he failed them on the lack of a rail and parts availability.
Guess we could go Ruger SR9?or maybe a 2nd hand usp 9(hen's teeth)?
The m and p with factory fitted safety falls outside his budget.he doesn't mind a 2nd hand fa if its in decent nick.I am running out of ideas!
Please help!
Thanks

Being on a budget and being fussy sometimes does not gel.

Go kick the tires in the shop... Academic exercise with fussy family members can be very exhausting.

Re: Advice needed for a fussy customer
Is it Dave Sheer that has the Glock special for R7000? It fits the bill, only without the external safety. This he can put on for not much more.
The G19 has a 15rd cap.
What other options are there? I've seen Beretta 92's with accessory rails, maybe this is a worthwhile conversion to a current Z88 or Beretta. I see there is currently a Beretta M92 FS on JunkMail for R1900. Not sure if it is a misprint or if I'm missing something, but seems like a bargain.

Re: Advice needed for a fussy customer
the term "beggers cant be choosers" comes to mind, and although it is a good amount of money he is willing to spend it is not realistic based on his list of requirements.
I would say CZ shadow then, but thats out of his budget by nearly double. I would highly recommend he go for a G17 and learn to run without a safety. It is closer to his stipulated budget and mags, parts and service are abundant.
Just remember, he is family, so you have to help, but if anything goes pear shaped with a second hand gun you will be responsible untill either of you die...
