Re: Be Careful with Section 21 permits with no Competency
I suggest you take the time, make an appointment with the DFO, and have a chat with her. Do you have the details fo the officer who instructed you to hand in your firearm? Do you have a receipt/acknowledgement? Take all that, go to your DFO, explain the story, and get some idiot fired.

Not cool!
According to the FCA if the Registrar wants to he can specify conditions for your S21, such as that you need a competency certificate. IMO if he didn't specify it then it is not necessary.

A S21 is a permit NOT a license. You do NOT require comp for a permit!
Tell the cop you want to see the enabling legislation failing which he should consider himself to be under arrest for criminal stupidity."Always remember to pillage before you burn"

Re: Be Careful with Section 21 permits with no Competency
Thanks for all the posts oukes, but when it comes to firearms I do as the copper says. Especially with the wierdabrug history of cuffing people for no real reason.
I did verify the copper on the phones name and rank with SAPD HR.
Looks like Self Defence Section 21 permits are a thing of the past.

Wonder if it has anything to do with your previous Rec/Neg driving conviction.

S21 also has no provision for Criminal Records checking.
