Well, here's the latest! The bill to end the long gun registry just passed 3rd reading in Parliament last night with a vote of 159-130. Woo-Hoo!! That means it is of to the Senate where we have to go through another dog and pony show with 3 readings and witnesses etc. etc. However, it should be quicker than it was in Parliament, and, the Conservatives also have a majority in the Senate...so, it really should just be a case of having to go through the procedural motions. We don't have a fixed date yet as to when it will be passed to the Governor General, but estimates are saying sometime in March; of course it will also depend on whatever stalling games the opposition decides to employ in the Senate. Here's a link to a news article about it:

Of course, Wendy and the rest of her sycophants are appalled. However, the general sentiment is that she can go suck eggs. What's really funny is that she and the rest of them are "...shocked! Shocked I tell you!!" to find the Conservatives and supporters celebrating the passing of a promised bill and election promise. Huh! They didn't mind celebrating in '95 when they shafted us with this piece of garbage that is the Firearms Act. Oh well, as I've said elsewhere in regard to this matter: Karma sometimes takes the form of angry female canines, and I am fond of dogs!

But the 'restricted' Registry stays for now, eh?

Yes, the "restricted" and "prohibited" categories will remain registered. Nevertheless, the fact that we were able to force the reversal of a pivotal piece of anti-gun legislation is ground breaking in Canada. And, as others have said, the removal of the LGR is not the end, but rather the beginning of changes we hope to effect.

Oh yes...one Helluva achievement! Great congratulations are in order for our Canadian Brothers...even if you guys do sell milk in bags.

Seriously, probably one of the greatest achievements for gun owners anywhere in the world in the last 20 years!
