Default 1911 throws spent cases far

    Hi everyone

I have been shooting a lot these last few weeks to get my DSS in SADPA. I noticed that my pistol throws the cases quite far in comparison to the other participants. This is not a problem for me, but was just wondering about this?

Some background: I did fit a stiffer recoil spring about two months ago originally 16 or 18 pounds and still feels the same as to when I got it (only done around 400 rounds). My loads are 5.8 gr MP200 with 230 gr Lead RN.

Is this just a 1911 thing? I have shot this gun for many years and it is really really reliable. I do believe in the fact that if it aint broken, dont fix it, but I must admit that I am a bit curious.

A 1911 or the ones I have shot did have a tendency of throwing spent cases far. The throw pattern is also in different directions some times. Compared to a Glock where the throw pattern is more even, if I can call it like that.

Has it become more noticible now that you compare it to other guns, or has it always done it?

Does it have a standard or extended ejector?

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
When it comes to 1911's if they work, don't change anything

It cost me a bit of money to get my 1911-type .45 to throw the brass out properly.

Extended ejector, modified ejection port, 18lb recoil spring.

I reckon you lucky, keep it as it is.

It has always been like this. Just noticed how different it is when I started comparing. hahahahaha (strange statement ) Must say that I am not comparing apples with apples here. Most participants use modern type handguns and I have not compared it to other 45 1911's.
I still have the standard extractor, but the ejection port was opened when I got it.

In my experience I think it is good.

I have seen some 1911s and HPs do the opposite, the casing only comes halfway out, causing a smokestack.
