Sig P250 wins and loses Dutch Contract
Today, Minister Opltesten of the Ministry of Justice and Security informed the Dutch government that effective immediately the contract for 40,000 Sig P250's had been cancelled as Sig could not deliver adequately functioning pistols after being given three chances at doing so.

Other test participants are being contacted now, among them H&K (P30) and Walther (P99). The language in the notice, which is an official government document is bad for Sig. It includes this gem...
'There is no longer sufficient trust in the quality of the gun, nor in the ability of the manufacturer to improve and maintain the quality of the weapon'

HK actually came in first in the testing from what I hear, but was not selected due to price.

Weird. I've an old school 226("Made in West Germany")and I love her. Only problem I've ever had is extraction failures when I go too long w/out cleaning.

Wow, that is a misfire for Sig, suppose all those defects will be sold in the 'third world' (SA). We all know that we are the trash can for the rest of the world, so look out for 'specials' on NEW Sig's!!!
Is the p99 any better???????

Re: Sig P250 wins and loses Dutch Contract
I can understand the document language
It states that the Walter P5 of the Netherlands Police is the firearm due to be replaced and that the Glock17 in use by the "Arrest Teams" is not being replaced.
Er is niet voldoende vertrouwen meer in de kwaliteitvan het pistool noch in het vermogen van de fabrikant om die kwaliteit te
verbeteren en te waarborgen.
This means no trust in the quality of the pistol nor in the ability of the manufacturer to improve or guarantee the quality.
The pistol failed 4 test cycles with the issue ammo named "Action NP".
I wonder how a company that makes the excellent Sig55X series of assault rifles cannot make a reliable pistol or has it to do with some weird ammo??? or are the rifles and pistols maybe not made in the same factory - I assume (I know , I know ...) that the Netherlands would buy form Swiss Arms in Switzerland and not from Sig USA ???Last edited by DS; 09-11-2011 at 08:52.

Re: Sig P250 wins and loses Dutch Contract
Ditto, though my 3 FTE's were all related to old cases with bad case rims causing the extractor to slip off.
Not bad given the 13+ years of ownership and regular shooting :)
Sadly there are issues with the quality of the new Sig's, I'm not a fan of the newer Polymer Framed guns and far prefer the older classic alloy ones!
