Reversing a handed-in gun

Hi

Can someone please tell me if it is possible to get a gun back after it has been handed in. I can get this revolver from a guy who handed it in about a month ago and wants to know what the chances are for this guy to get it back.
Any one knows of a similar incident and what happened?

I think it is to late. Asked the DFO a while back if someone handed in a weapon if it possible to get it back.
Answer DFO - To late, already in file. Must get it before it is in books md217
