Thread: Strike Three

    Default Strike Three

Does anyone have any experience with Strike Free Ammo for SD purposes? Made in the Phillipines it features a plastic cap with three "balls" inside and was apparently designed for close range SD up to 15m. I bought 10 .40S&W for my G22 but haven't tested it yet.

I think that it's a solution in search of a problem.

I am concerned that the individual balls will not have adequate penetration in tissue to damage vital structures.

Nor do I believe any one of the three balls will hit where you aim.

The concept sounds very similair to the "glaser"bullets . It suffered from poor penetration.

    Not at all.

The Glaser had small shot encased in a copper bullet jacket covered with epoxy. It left the barrel as a single projectile and, upon impact, disintergrated.

The Strike 3 has 3 projectiles in each case, which leave the barrel independently. More akin to shotshells, but with larger pellets.

I stand corrected. However poor penetration remains a problem & accuracy would seem suspect.

I remember some 357mag or 38spl ammo with the similar concept. ???

The concept would seem to be that of not being thorougly thought through. I think accuracy would be problematic and sufficient pentration aslo a issue.

    Hi guys

Thanks for your input. It really is a problem getting decent SD ammo here in the NW, especially for the .40. Must try and get some when I go to Jhb or Pretoria again.

Maybe have a chat to the guys at Formalito, I know they had a stack of 165gr Speer Gold Dots not so long ago, I doubt they would've sold all of them.
See if they can supply you directly or your local gunshop.
