WTK: Can firearms be transfer back and forth from SA to USA?

Unfortunately, no. Even in the good old days when i could take a handgun to SA on vacation, it was easier selling my rifles to somebody in South Africa, than to bring something I did not have documentation for back to the US.

True story, I was offered an R6 for free back in the 90's, I just had to take it out of the country. My butt out of jail was worth more to me, but the offer was mighty tempting..
