Default Know what kind of war it is?

This is an excellent read but it also misses the point. Even the title is wrong.

The consequences are intended. The objective is known and the methods are documented.

The reason these consequences are thought of as unintended is because we are so vain as to not see that it is our failing to understand the kind of fight we are in that makes the end result seem a mysterious unexpected result.

Why does every country's military have a psyops section? Why do politicians have "spindoctors" and why does gun control do nothing but influence public opinion? Gun control does not introduce the laws - politicians (governments) do in response to PUBLIC PRESSURE. That it helps what politicians also want just make the job easier.

    Psych-Ops : Psychological Operations : Psy-Ops

    Protection from Psychological Operations

Psychological operations (psych-ops or psy-ops) refer to the planned use of psychological knowledge to influence groups, organizations or populations to act in certain ways. Although associated with guerilla warfare, rebellion and subversion; many marketing and political strategies include psych-ops techniques ... often called "office politics", "hostile takeovers", "social engineering" or "effective marketing".

An organization can protect itself from psych-ops manipulation by recognizing the warning signs, defusing the tactics and convincing its members to commit to a common mission.

I think the title Unintended Consequences is from the Law Makers perspective. They did not intend a campaign of retaliation as detailed in the book, they intended absolute control of the populace, they werent keen on being victims of assasination plots.

What an excellent read. I like the side plots as well.
