Occasionally my wife and I shoot standard military metal falling plates (30cm x30cm) at 100m. We both can hit about three plates per mag. I'm shooting a CZ75, and wifey is shooting a G19.

However I fuly agree that the chances that you would ever need to use a handgun at those ranges are slim to remote. Also, good luck trying to prove selft defence.

    Mic that's good going there.

SD at a 100m with a 9mm, not a snowballs hope in hell there.

As we know SD handguns are close (not too close) stand off weapons, and one would realistically never need to use it beyond the 5-10 meter range.

    Gunfights are anomalies.

We cannot exclude the necessity to engage targets beyond 10 metres in a fight.

Long distance pistol shooting is not, in my view, about training to hit some clown in the face at 100 metres.

Training at 25 and beyond exposes your failures in grip, trigger control, follow through, sight alignment etc. far better than at 5 metres.

It limits the tendency towards autofellatio in shooters who "train" at five metres who alledge that 8 inch groups at that distance are "good enough for self-defence - its not like I'm shooting for sport".

Agree totally with you SSP. Put a target byond 25m with a handgun and I'm out of my comfort zone.

That's a great training opportunity for you then. Keep doing that until its in your comfort zone, then shrink the target.

If you can get hits at 25, you can get hits at 5, faster.
