Vultures at work

Beautifull birds. Those are lappet faced afaik.
Apparently you will win the lotto if you sleep with a vultures head under your pillow. As a result the endangered white backed vulture is under even more pressure.

Awesome pics Gamefarmer. Unfortunately I'm a paramedic so the only vultures I see at work are tow-trucks

BTW - an interesting fact about vultures. You will notice that some, white backed for instance, have no feathers on its neck where as others, eg the lammergeier, has a feathered neck. This is because the lammergeier is a bone eating specialist. The others have adapted to prevent blood and guts soiling the feathers.

I really enjoy vultures. They are also such a key player in bush upkeep. Pitty they are barely existant in the Waterberg.
