What media are you going to use behind/infront of the windscreens Dwak? There is a recipe for a basic ballistic type gel around, may be a good idea to use that if you're going through the trouble of testing JHP's on windscreens.

Going to use good old plastic water bottles. I agree some sort of gelatin would be the preferred option but how easy is it to make?
Doc Roberts does say it is possible to estimate how much penetration you will get in gelatin using water as a medium. If I remember correctly he says you will get roughly 1.5 -2x the penetration when using water.
I would also like to see if the bullet will hold together after going through the windscreen and the water because water tents to cause jacket core separation.
My theory is that if the bullet can hold together through the windscreen and water and still be intact then we should have a winner??? We should also be able to roughly estimate penetration???

Bullet-wise I agree Brendan but I was speaking of factory new loaded ammo and what I have heard is currently available in SA, so no GDs, they don't get considered in that opinion.

i've heard people here recommend (and it makes sense) to load the first 2-3 rounds as CMJ.... in case there's a door/window in your way.
or, just keep an entire CMJ/ball mag precisely for that.

Any suggestion on good ball ammo

Right you are Ikor. Unfortunately the 124gr+P Remington GS hasn't been available here for almost a decade, only the std pressure 124 & 147gr versions (of which the 147gr version seems to perform best).
I've ordered some 9x19 Speer GD's in 50rnd LE boxes, will follow-up with the supplier.

Either S&B or WWB 115gr ball, both are decent, but the S&B is slightly hotter and has sealed primers and case mouth (will likely store better/last longer).

Ja, that is the theory. They should hold up well, but don't expect great expansion after passing through the windscreen. I'm guessing they'll penetrate roughly 12-16".

I think they're awesome, but I've never shot anybody with them before so I can't tell you exact specifics. They feed through my gun like M&M's though, and they just have a "quality" feel about them...more so than the Hornady's I've just purchased.
